You may have noticed that Sales.mx has been publishing less content and updates to our blog in the past few months.  We are currently working on upgrading the website and will be offering some exciting new features in the coming months – “Interactive” features!  The new version of Sales.mx is anticipated to be launched by September 1st.

Should we expand our sales leaderboard to include more sales, or continue reporting only the top 25?  Please take a moment to fill out the poll below.

Last week we reached a small milestone in our reporting of .MX domain sales here at Sales.mx.  All sales which make up the Top 25 publicly reported .MX domain sales leaderbaord are now in the 4-figure range (over $1000 or higher).

This leaves us with a decision to make, and we need your help in deciding how to continue charting the top domain sales as we move forward.

We already have advanced knowledge of another $3,000 .MX domain sale coming down the pipeline, which will be reported on next week, so your feedback at this time is important to us.  Here is the question before you:

In order to have an accurate window into a domain market we need to have accurate data.  If data is unreliable or false, it may paint a picture that is not clear, which can then prevent us from making sound decisions.

To those that have been following the Top 25 Sales Leaderboard, it has regretfully come to our attention that two of the sales so far reported may in fact never have been completed.  Because we cannot ensure with 100% accuracy that the sales in question were ever completed, as of today the following two domain sales will no longer be listed on our leaderboard.  Reasons are given below.

We discovered today from a search of the Whois history through DomainTools that the two domains in question had never changed ownership, meaning that although the domains did each receive $1,000 bids at auction, the most likely scenario is that the buyer/bidder failed to pay the winning bid and the sales were never completed.  Since we cannot be certain, we will no longer list these sales .

The sales in question were part of a DomainFest auction, the results of which were initially posted on Domain Name News, a site which we deem to be a very credible and reliable source.  However they do in fact note directly on their website that,

As always we do not guarantee the accuracy of these results.

Please note that we too carry a disclaimer on our sales leaderboard page, to the affect that although we try our utmost to maintain the accuracy of our reporting, as human beings we are not immune to error and you should not rely solely on the information contained in this website when making decisions that are of a financial nature, or otherwise.

We do sincerely apologize to our readers for this inaccuracy, and hope that this post is evidence of our intentions to maintain the utmost integrity.  As an added measure to ensure credibility, going forward we will only accept domain sales listings that can be independently verified by a party to the transaction and/or reported in established publications such as DNJournal.com which obtains its reports directly from aftermarket vendors.  Further, we will also require a proof of purchase price when reporting private sales.  (such as a screenshot of the PayPal or Escrow transaction receipt)

Vans.mx sells for $1,200 and Sales..mx is now available en Espanol!

The domain name Vans.mx recently changed hands to claim the #7 spot on the Top 25 .mx Domain Sales Leaderboard.

The domain was sold by MXDomainsForSale.com for $1,200 in a private transaction.  Sales.mx was notified of the sale  last week via email and transfer of the domain to the buyer was confirmed by whois earlier this week.

If you have sold a .mx domain and would like credit for the sale and have it listed on the Top 25 Leaderboard please contact us at any time.

In other news, you may notice that there is now a translation link at the top of each page and post of the website.  To read the contents of this site en Espanol simply click on the [Translate] link at top.  The translations are automated (by Google Translate) so they are not perfect, but will do for now.

Since the majority of visitors to this site are Spanish and English speakers, we’ve only allowed Spanish language translation for now, but if you would like to request that we add any other language please contact us and we’ll be happy to do so.
